Young Naturalists Hike a Mountain!

Hello and welcome to Geology Rocks! It's our third session of the summer and we have an awesome group of campers. We have all been learning about rocks and minerals, studying different kinds of rocks closely and beginning to talk about concepts like tectonic plates, fossils, igneous rock and more. Today the Young Naturalists hiked up Mount Holyoke at Skinner State Park. I couldn't believe what fast and savvy hikers they are! Especially on steep, slippery rocks after all the rain. We all had lots of fun making a "rock band" by banging basalt rocks together, catching red grasshoppers (!), climbing all over the rocks at the summit, and admiring the view.
