Camp Has Begun!

Camp is off to a great start!  Campers have been busy learning about homes and habitats, getting to know each other and the trails here at the Larch Hill conservation area. On Day One, all campers worked on making nature journals, which they write and draw in several times a week.

After surveying the habitats of Larch Hill, the Explorers (ages 8-10) started their habitat murals, drawing plants and animals that live in each one.

The Young Naturalists (ages 6-7) used sticks to bind their nature journals and decorated them with drawings.

Yesterday, the Explorers went on their first outing: blueberry picking at Nourse Farms in Whately!

Afterwards, they made fruit leather using lemon and sugar.

Meanwhile, the Young Naturalists created “penny treasure maps” in which they hid a penny at the Hitchcock Center and drew a map for their partner to find it. Several campers tried to stump Rebecca and Patrick. Where could the penny be?
